Nitrogen effects on net ecosystem carbon exchange in a temperate steppe

Global Change Biology, 2009
AbstractIt has widely been documented that nitrogen (N) enrichment stimulates plant growth and net primary production. However, there is still dispute on how N addition affects net ecosystem CO2 exchange (NEE), which represents the balance between ecosystem carbon (C) uptake and release.

Spatial analysis of growing season length control over net ecosystem exchange

Global Change Biology, 2005
AbstractUsing data from 28 flux measurement sites, we performed an analysis of the relationship between annual net ecosystem exchange (NEE) and the length of the carbon uptake period (CUP) (the number of days when the ecosystem is a net carbon sink). The observations suggest a linear correlation between the two quantities.

Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) simulation in maize using artificial neural networks

IFAC Journal of Systems and Control, 2019
Abstract The rate of the net ecosystem exchange of CO2 (NEE) between the atmosphere and vegetated surface plays important role to achieve a better understanding regarding the global carbon budget. The eddy covariance method is known as an accurate and direct approach to measure the CO2 flux in small scale from a hundred meter to several kilometers ...

Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) of the Island of Pianosa.

2004
The overall gas exchange occurring between Mediterranean ecosystems and the atmosphere has been rarely quantified experimentally, but due to the occurrence of prolonged summer drought that limits gas exchange, the potential carbon (C) sink of Mediterranean ecosystems is generally considered low.

Spatialization of station measured net ecosystem exchange using artificial neural network

2008 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2008
Net ecosystem exchange (NEE) is a critical ecological parameter indicating the exchange of carbon dioxide between vegetation and atmosphere, which is widely used in the field of carbon cycle researches. It is common measurement by flux tower based on eddy covariance technique can only represent local status, however regional NEE is much more important.

Observation and Modeling of Net Ecosystem Carbon Exchange Over Canopy

2016
Eddy covariance, which is the most common micrometeorological flux measurement method, can estimate ecosystem-scale and fine time-resolution carbon dioxide (CO2) exchange between the upper vegetation surface and atmosphere. Given no lateral CO2 advection, the sum of eddy covariance measurements and CO2 storage in the underlying air represents net ...

Satellite-driven model to upscale Irish CO2 Net Ecosystem Exchange (ICONEEx)

Climate change poses a significant environmental challenge for humanity, and accurately predicting its intensity as well as its impact on terrestrial ecosystems is crucial. To achieve this, monitoring, modelling, and mapping greenhouse gas (GHG) exchanges between the biosphere and the atmosphere is essential. Monitoring is also important to achieve the
