In Materia Shaping of Randomness with a Standard Complementary Metal‐Oxide‐Semiconductor Transistor for Task‐Adaptive Entropy Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study establishes a materials‐driven framework for entropy generation within standard CMOS technology. By electrically rebalancing gate‐oxide traps and Si‐channel defects in foundry‐fabricated FDSOI transistors, the work realizes in‐materia control of temporal correlation – achieving task adaptive entropy optimization for reinforcement learning ...

Exploration of synergistic and redundant information sharing from hydrometeorological variables to net ecosystem exchange

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Terrestrial ecosystems play a vital role in mitigating climate change by absorbing a substantial fraction of anthropogenic CO _2 emissions, with net ecosystem exchange (NEE) serving as a critical metric of land-atmosphere carbon flux.

Uncertainty analysis of gross primary production partitioned from net ecosystem exchange measurements [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2016
Gross primary production (GPP) can be separated from flux tower measurements of net ecosystem exchange (NEE) of CO2. This is used increasingly to validate process-based simulators and remote-sensing-derived estimates of simulated GPP at various time ...

Upscaling key ecosystem functions across the conterminous United States by a water-centric ecosystem model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We developed a water-centric monthly scale simulation model (WaSSI-C) by integrating empirical water and carbon flux measurements from the FLUXNET network and an existing water supply and demand accounting model (WaSSI).

Artificial Symbiosis for Bulk Production of Bacterial Cellulose Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Co‐cultivation of the cellulose‐producing bacterium with the microalga enables bulk formation of bacterial cellulose under static incubation, with photosynthetically active oxygen‐generating sites throughout the medium. This symbiotic platform supports 3D cellulosic constructs with geometries dictated by the vessel shape.

Modeling net ecosystem carbon exchange of alpine grasslands with a satellite-driven model. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Estimate of net ecosystem carbon exchange (NEE) between the atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystems, the balance of gross primary productivity (GPP) and ecosystem respiration (Reco) has significant importance for studying the regional and global carbon ...

Statistical uncertainty of eddy flux–based estimates of gross ecosystem carbon exchange at Howland Forest, Maine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present an uncertainty analysis of gross ecosystem carbon exchange (GEE) estimates derived from 7 years of continuous eddy covariance measurements of forest-atmosphere CO2fluxes at Howland Forest, Maine, USA.

Impacts of active retrogressive thaw slumps on vegetation, soil, and net ecosystem exchange of carbon dioxide in the Canadian High Arctic

open access: yes, 2017
Retrogressive thaw slumps (RTS) are permafrost disturbances common on the Fosheim Peninsula, Ellesmere Island, Canada. During the 2013 growing season, three different RTS were studied to investigate the impact on vegetation composition, soil, and growing

Integrated Lead/Iodine Management for Sustainable Perovskite Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Perovskite solar modules face environmental risks from lead and iodine leakage. A dual‐function adsorbent—porphyrin‐modified whitlockite nanocomposites—effectively captures iodine and Pb2+, even under severe damage. Combined with a semi‐closed recycling process, it recovers 96.9% high‐purity PbI2 and reduces residual Pb2+ to <10 ppb, offering an ...

High spatial resolution remote sensing models for landscape-scale CO₂ exchange in the Canadian Arctic

open access: yesArctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research, 2020
Climate warming is affecting terrestrial ecosystems in the Canadian Arctic, potentially altering the carbon balance of the landscape and contributing additional CO2 to the atmosphere.
