Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The Solarevolution: Much More with Way Less, Right Now—The Disruptive Shift to Renewables

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Renewable energy resources and technologies are sufficient to meet all of humanity’s energy requirements, provided that the transition to renewables is accompanied in parallel by intense, disciplined initiatives to design, fabricate, and distribute ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Net Zero Energy Building

open access: yes, 2019
Due to the fast speed of global resources depletion there have been world- widely initiated methods of reducing non-renewable resources consumption. Since even renewable resources have harmful side effects - the humanity switched its attention from new ways of producing energy to energy preservation and energy efficiency.

Cutting ages of elephant grass for chopped hay production

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2018
With the advancement of the cutting age, there is an increase in the forage yield of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum), but there is also a reduction of the protein levels and digestibility of this forage.

Excitation function of entropy and pion production from AGS to SPS energies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Entropy production in the initial compression stage of relativistic heavy-ion collisions from AGS to SPS energies is calculated within a three-fluid hydrodynamical model. The entropy per participating net baryon is found to increase smoothly and does not

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Hadron multiplicities, pT-spectra and net-baryon number in central Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC

open access: yes, 2007
We compute the initial energy density and net baryon number density in 5% most central Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt s=5.5$ TeV from pQCD + (final state) saturation, and describe the evolution of the produced system with boost-invariant transversely ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Techno-economic assessment of decarbonization pathways for a gas to liquid facility: A review

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
An overview of gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuels which explores various approaches to decarbonizing gas-to-liquid facilities is here presented. The review discusses optimization of heat integration in the air separation unit (ASU) to reduce energy requirements ...
