Radiation Balance over Low-Turbidity Water Artificially Cleaned for Irrigation of Tobacco Grown Under Shading. II. Water Albedo Analysis and Net Radiation Modelling [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Meteorologia
The albedo of a water surface and the energy available for evaporation are strongly correlated and studying such processes is of paramount importance for water security at farm and regional levels.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Validation and Spatiotemporal Analysis of CERES Surface Net Radiation Product

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2016
The Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) generates one of the few global satellite radiation products. The CERES ARM Validation Experiment (CAVE) has been providing long-term in situ observations for the validation of the CERES products ...

The net radiation budget of the northern hemisphere [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 1999
A radiative transfer model was used together with mean monthly long‐term climatological data to infer the net radiation budget of the Northern Hemisphere for latitudinal zones of 10° width. Most of the data were taken from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project and supplemented by data from the collaboration between National Centers for ...

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Improved Albedo Estimates Implemented in the METRIC Model for Modeling Energy Balance Fluxes and Evapotranspiration over Agricultural and Natural Areas in the Brazilian Cerrado

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
In this study we assessed METRIC (Mapping Evapotranspiration at high Resolution with Internalized Calibration) model performance to estimate energy balance fluxes and evapotranspiration (ET) in two heterogeneous landscapes in the Brazilian Cerrado ...

Identification and characterisation of calcitonin receptor isoforms expressed in glioblastoma derived glioma stem and U‐87 MG cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma cells express calcitonin receptor variants (CT receptor isoforms) that may help them survive stress. Using qPCR, transcript‐specific long‐read nanopore sequencing, immunofluorescence co‐localisation and comparative sequence analysis, this study identifies a novel alternatively spliced CALCR transcript that encodes the CTb receptor isoform ...

Multi-Scale Quality Assessment of the GLASS Daily Net Radiation Product in China from 2000 to 2020

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Net solar radiation is an essential parameter that characterizes surface energy exchange and plays a critical role in climate change, solar power generation, and agricultural irrigation. Although the global GLASS surface all-wave daily net radiation (NR)
