A theory of nondeterministic networks
IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 2004Both nondeterminism and multilevel networks can be used to compactly characterize logic structures as well as all the flexibilities allowed for optimizing them. Synthesis results can be improved by allowing the manipulation of a larger class of networks called nondeterministic (ND) networks.

Evolution theory indicates that investment in mechanisms of somatic maintenance and repair is likely to be limited, suggesting that aging may result from the accumulation of unrepaired somatic defects. An important corollary of this hypothesis is that multiple mechanisms of aging operate in parallel.

Autonomic networking: Theory and practice
NOMS 2008 - 2008 IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium, 2004Summary form only given. A new genre of management applications is required to accommodate current and future uses of network services. The key to solving this problem is to realize that currently, network operation is divorced from how the business operates, and that current approaches do not address this problem.

Theoretical ideas have played a profound role in the development of idiotypic network theory. Mathematical models can help in the precise translation of speculative ideas into quantitative predictions. They can also help establish general principles and frameworks for thinking.

Traceroute is a widely used program for computing the topology of any network in the Internet. Using Traceroute, one starts from a node and chooses any other node in the network. Traceroute obtains the sequence of nodes that occur between these two nodes, as specified by the routing tables in these nodes.

Theories of Communication Networks
2003To date, most network research contains one or more of five major problems. First, it tends to be atheoretical, ignoring the various social theories that contain network implications. Second, it explores single levels of analysis rather than the multiple levels out of which most networks are comprised.

A Theory of Asynchronous Control Networks
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1971A digital system can be viewed as an interaction of two structures, a data flow structure and a control structure. In this paper we adopt this point of view and concentrate on defining a structure theory for asynchronous control networks, which is formed by interconnecting certain basic control modules.

This chapter examines the ideas that currently inform our understanding of networks and how they affect networked learning. The chapter brings together a number of different theoretical approaches to networks from diverse intellectual traditions, and it explores what kinds of insights they can offer in developing a theory of networked learning.

The theory of macromolecular networks
Biorheology, 1986Network theory has evolved from the simplest rubber materials and is just entering the biological area. The existing theories are studied and the modifications required for biological applications are reviewed. The issues involved are: the balance between entropy and internal energy, the rigidity and flexibility of molecules, the stability of the ...
