Network Cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2012
Prediction and control of the dynamics of complex networks is a central problem in network science. Structural and dynamical similarities of different real networks suggest that some universal laws might accurately describe the dynamics of these networks, albeit the nature and common origin of such laws remain elusive.

Parent Quality of Life at Two Years Following Their Child's Completion of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Parents of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often experience significant caregiver burden and disruption to their well‐being. While parent quality of life (QoL) during treatment is well characterized, little is known about outcomes during early survivorship.

Determination of the focal mechanism solutions of the earthquakes with MS≥4.0 occurred in the mainland of China during April to June 2022

open access: yes地震科学进展, 2022
In this paper, the regional full waveform inversion of the broadband waveforms from China Seismic Network were conducted, and the focal mechanism solutions of the 24 earthquakes with MS≥4.0 in the mainland of China from April 1 to June 30, 2022 were ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Shape graphs and the instantaneous inference of tactical positions in soccer

open access: yesnpj Complexity
We propose shape graphs as instantaneous representations of spatial arrangements in association football (soccer). Shape graphs are a novel type of subgraph of Delaunay triangulations inspired by related applications in fingerprinting and facial ...

Determination the focal mechanism solutions of earthquakes with M≥4.0 occurred in the mainland of China in December 2021

open access: yes地震科学进展, 2022
In order to fill a gap in the seismological products of the earthquake source parameters catalog of the seismic networks, focal mechanism solutions of the 6 earthquake events with M≥4.0 in the mainland of China from December 1 to December 31, 2021 were ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide: assessment of initiation, progression, and impact

open access: yesScientific Reports
Globally, the emergence of multi-hazard scenarios and cascaded disasters is significantly rising . During the 2024 monsoon in Wayanad District, Kerala, India, torrential rainfall triggered landslides, erosion, and flash floods, resulting in over 400 ...

Characteristics of the coseismic geomagnetic disturbances recorded during the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan Earthquake and two unexplained problems

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2019
Twenty-seven FHDZ-M15 combined geomagnetic observation systems (each of which is equipped with a fluxgate magnetometer and a proton magnetometer) had been installed in the China geomagnetic network before the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, during which ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
