Computed tomography reveals multiple origins of extreme caudal vertebral pneumaticity in sauropod dinosaurs

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Here, we present novel CT scan data of caudal vertebrae of six Middle–Late Jurassic sauropods, representing several eusauropod lineages. We synthesise these new data with a comprehensive critical appraisal of purported external and internal evidence for caudal vertebral PSP in Sauropodomorpha.

Spatial and temporal evolution of a coastal erg margin: the Middle Jurassic Page Sandstone, southern Utah, USA

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aeolian deflationary events are erosive to static stages where sediment supply is insufficient to support bedform migration and preservation in the rock record. In the vicinity of shallow‐marine environments, inland rises of relative water table and associated generation of deflationary super surfaces may be driven by the onset of ...

Letting People in: Redefining Collaboration in Wildland–Urban Interface Governance

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 910-926, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Intensifying wildfire regimes and expanding human settlements into wilderness areas have heightened concerns about the wildland–urban interface (WUI) due to the associated increase in fire risk. However, the WUI presents broader social‐ecological challenges that go beyond wildfire risk and remain understudied.

Nectar Robbery by Native and Invasive Bumblebees Reduces Floral Rewards but Not Seed Production in Desfontainia fulgens

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
We evaluated nectar robbery by native and invasive bumblebees in the hummingbird‐pollinated shrub Desfontainia fulgens in southern Chile. Nectar robbery strongly reduced nectar standing crop and altered floral visitation patterns, but these proximate effects did not translate into reduced seed production under natural pollination conditions.

Integrating Niche Dimensions to Advance the Ecological Study of the Americas' Smallest Cat: The Guigna in Argentine Patagonia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
We present our findings from the first multi‐annual survey of guigna in Argentine Patagonia. We found that habitat use for guignas was negatively affected by the presence of co‐predators and open vegetation; conversely, it was positively affected by the occurrence of thick forests and the presence of potential prey.
