Charting Endocrine Progenitors Across Species and Organs
Endocrine progenitors give rise to the hormone‐producing cells of the pancreas and intestine. Using single‐cell multiomics and proteomics, this study compares these progenitors across species, systems, and organs, mapping the conserved and species‐specific gene regulatory networks that guide their formation.

The pre‐regenerative vascular niche (PVN) is essential for nerve repair, yet its endothelial blueprint remains unclear. We identified angiogenic ECs (AECs) as the dominant pre‐regenerative subset and found that antler blood–derived exosomes (AB‐EXO) promote repair via IMP3.

A regenerative strategy for stroke combines human stem cell–derived neural progenitor cells with sustained release of a matrix‐modifying, thermostable chondroitinase ABC‐37 enzyme. In a rat model of stroke, co‐delivery enhanced transplanted cell survival and neuronal differentiation, degraded inhibitory extracellular matrix components, and improved ...

TGF-beta signalling in the adult neurogenic niche promotes stem cell quiescence as well as generation of new neurons. [PDF]
Members of the transforming growth factor (TGF)-b family govern a wide range of mechanisms in brain development and in the adult, in particular neuronal/glial differentiation and survival, but also cell cycle regulation and neural stem cell maintenance ...

A Common Neural Progenitor for the CNS and PNS
Cultured spinal cord neuroepithelial (NEP) cells can differentiate into neurons, oligodendrocytes and astrocytes and are morphologically and antigenically distinct from neural crest stem cells (NCSCs) that generate the PNS. NEP cells, however, can generate p75/nestin-immunoreactive cells that are morphologically and antigenically similar to previously ...

Strain-Dependent Consequences of Zika Virus Infection and Differential Impact on Neural Development
Maternal infection with Zika virus (ZIKV) during pregnancy can result in neonatal abnormalities, including neurological dysfunction and microcephaly. Experimental models of congenital Zika syndrome identified neural progenitor cells as a target of viral ...

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Enhancement of endogenous midbrain neurogenesis by microneurotrophin BNN-20 after neural progenitor grafting in a mouse model of nigral degeneration [PDF]
We have previously shown the neuroprotective and pro-neurogenic activity of microneurotrophin BNN-20 in the substantia nigra of the “weaver” mouse, a model of progressive nigrostriatal degeneration.

Background: Olfactory impairment has been reported in patients with depression and in rodent models of depression. Olfactory epithelium (OE) is the only peripheral neural tissue connected to the brain that has the potential for self-renewal.
