Radiofrequency thermocoagulation of Gasserian ganglion in trigeminal neuralgia

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport
Introduction: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a form of neuropathic pain that targets the fifth cranial nerve, leading to intense facial pain that can significantly impact one’s quality of life.

Familial classic trigeminal neuralgia

open access: yesNeurología (English Edition), 2019
Introduction: The classic form of trigeminal neuralgia is usually sporadic (no familial clustering). However, around 2% of all cases of trigeminal neuralgia may be familial. Describing this entity may be useful for diagnosing this process and may also be

The Role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Evaluation of Trigeminal Neuralgia [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Anatomy Radiology and Surgery, 2016
Introducation: Trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by electric shock-like pain, abrupt in onset and brief, in the distribution of one or more divisions of the trigeminal nerve.

Associations Between Multiple Chemosensory Dysfunction and Cognition

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
Key Points This study supports the association between chemosensory dysfunction and cognition. We introduce methods of assessing trigeminal function with the Medoc TSA‐II thermoprobe. Our results identify an association between subjective trigeminal dysfunction and cognition.

Clinical and Radiological Profile of Trigeminal Neuralgia- A Retrospective Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2020
Introduction: Trigeminal neuralgia is described as severe, stabbing unilateral pain along the distribution of trigeminal nerve branches. The three subtypes include- Classical, secondary and idiopathic. Aim: To study the clinical profile, presentation

Gabapentinoids‐duloxetine combination therapy for chronic pain: A mechanism oriented rational to bridge theoretical knowledge and real life setting

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Chronic pain represents a complex debilitating condition that extends beyond the protective function of physiological pain, often persisting as an independent disease entity. Chronic primary and secondary pain syndromes reflect a multifaceted continuum involving nociceptive, neuropathic and nociplastic mechanisms.

Improvement of Trigeminal Neuralgia Following Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy in a Patient With Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2020
Normal-pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) has rarely been reported to be associated with trigeminal neuralgia (TN). We report a case of NPH with trigeminal neuralgia, whose symptoms completely resolved after endoscopic third ventriculostomy.

HLA‐B*15:21 carrier status is a susceptibility factor of carbamazepine‐induced nonimmediate cutaneous adverse reactions in HLA‐B*15:02‐negative patients: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
After HLA‐B*15:02 screening, the residual risk of carbamazepine‐induced nonimmediate cutaneous adverse reactions is 0.059. Among these HLA‐B*15:02‐negative cases, HLA‐B*15:11 and HLA‐B*15:21 carrier status significantly increases the risk of carbamazepine‐induced nonimmediate cADR.

Semiology of functional/dissociative seizures in idiopathic generalized epilepsy: An inpatient video‐electroencephalographic study

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study was undertaken to estimate the prevalence and characterize the semiology of co‐occurring functional/dissociative seizures (FDSs) and identify clinical features potentially associated with the development of video‐electroencephalography (video‐EEG)‐diagnosed FDSs in patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE ...
