Extent and Incidence of Pseudo-Worsening of Kidney Function Due to Oral Antitumor Therapeutics in the AMBORA Cohort: An Analysis of Real-World Data. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Pharmacol Ther
A considerable number of oral antitumor therapeutics (OAT) has the potential for causing pseudo‐worsening of kidney function (PW) due to inhibition of renal creatinine secretion, i.e., kidney function is unaffected, while creatinine‐based calculation of glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) erroneously indicates an impaired kidney function.

Environmental Enrofloxacin Exposure as a Modifiable Driver of Mitochondria-Mediated Intestinal Aging and Barrier Dysfunction. [PDF]

open access: yesAging Cell
Environmentally relevant enrofloxacin accelerates intestinal aging by impairing epithelial mitochondrial function, disrupting barrier integrity, and reshaping the gut microbiota. Mitochondrial restoration with pyrroloquinoline quinone alleviates hypoxia, inflammation, and gut damage.

Local Search and the Evolution of World Models

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023

We discuss the role that evolutionary mechanisms play in this process. Specifically, we argue that when it comes to developing a global world model, innovation is necessarily ...

Drought Reduces Formation, but Enhances Persistence, of Mineral-Associated Organic Matter in a Grassland Soil. [PDF]

open access: yesGlob Chang Biol
We used a 13C‐CO2 labeling study to track the formation and persistence of mineral‐associated soil carbon derived from living root and decaying root inputs under normal moisture and droughted conditions in a semiarid grassland soil. Drought reduced the formation of MAOM derived from living roots by decreasing rhizodeposits, reducing microbial growth ...
