Intraventricular neurocytoma

Australasian Radiology, 1996
SUMMARYIntraventricular neurocytoma is a rare cerebral tumour which is usually associated with a good prognosis. It has imaging features which help differentiate it from other cerebral tumours. We report three cases including the first to originate from the pineal gland. The report emphasizes the radiological appearance and reviews the literature.

Intraventricular neurocytomas

Neurosurgery Clinics of North America, 2003
The literature to date on the treatment of CNC reflects an evolution of clinical practice in neurooncology. The advent of sophisticated tools, such as MRS and molecular pathology, has facilitated more efficient diagnosis of CNC. Decreased morbidity associated with surgical intervention has resulted in better outcomes in patients undergoing resection of

Benign central neurocytoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 2000
"Central neurocytoma" is classically considered as an intraventricular benign tumor, largely based on data from small retrospective series. The authors present prospective data on 12 patients with tumors diagnosed as central neurocytoma, to highlight the diverse nature of this tumor and challenge the classic notion.Between 1991 and 1997, 12 patients ...

Pigmented central neurocytoma

Acta Neuropathologica, 2004
Central neurocytoma is a low-grade neuronal neoplasm that occurs most often within the lateral ventricles. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman who presented with gait problems, headache and memory loss. Preoperative evaluation demonstrated a heterogeneous, hypervascular and partially cystic mass in the left lateral ventricle.

Central Neurocytoma and Extraventricular Neurocytoma

2009
A low-grade (WHO 2007, grade II) ventricular (central neurocytoma) or extraventricular tumor composed of a monomorphic population of uniform round neurocytic cells. More common in the lateral and third ventricles but may occur in the fourth ventricle and extraventricular sites including the cerebral hemispheric parenchyma and spinal cord.

Atypical extraventricular neurocytoma

Pathology International, 2006
Extraventricular neurocytoma (EVN) is a rare brain tumor that poses diagnostic difficulty. Described herein is a case of atypical EVN arising in a 54‐year‐old woman. A well‐circumscribed lesion (3.0 × 3.0 × 3.0 cm) in the right parietal lobe showed diffuse proliferation of monotonous tumor cells with perinuclear clearing within a delicate fibrillary ...

Recurrent central neurocytomas

Cancer, 2005
AbstractBACKGROUNDSince the first description of Central neurocytomas (CNs) as a benign tumor entity in 1982, there has been great enthusiasm regarding the benign course and the curative surgical approach to this disease. The current study was performed to investigate the frequency of disease recurrence during long‐term follow‐up.METHODSA retrospective

[Central neurocytoma].

Revista de neurologia, 1998
A central neurocytoma (CN) is a rare tumor, of neuronal origin, well-differentiated and found intraventricularly. It mainly affects young adults. Firm diagnosis is made on immunohistochemical (IHQ) and ultrastructural studies, since on optic microscopy it is similar in appearance to an oligodendroglioma or to an ependymoma. We studied 4 cases, three ...
