Neuroendocrine bases of monogamy
Trends in Neurosciences, 1998A number of studies have implicated the neurohypophyseal peptides oxytocin and vasopressin in the central mediation of complex social behaviors, including affiliation, parental care and territorial aggression. Research on a monogamous rodent, the prairie vole (Microtus ochrogaster), suggests that these neuropeptides are also involved in the control of ...

Oncology
Introduction: The prognostic differences between neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) remain unclear. Methods: This study aimed to compare the prognostic outcomes of NEC and MiNEN by analyzing the clinicopathological features of these diseases and exploring factors affecting progression after ...

Neuroendocrine differentiation in non-neuroendocrine thyroid carcinoma.
Thyroid : official journal of the American Thyroid Association, 1996Specimens from 40 cases of thyroid carcinomas, including 35 papillary, 2 follicular, 2 undifferentiated, and 1 Hurtle cell carcinoma were analyzed for neuroendocrine differentiation with immunohistochemical tests for synapthophysin, neuron-specific enolase (NSE), chromogranin, and calcitonin; all cases were stained for thyroglobulin.

Neuroendocrine Heart and Hypothalamus
Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1986Data on the endocrine heart--neurosecretory cells of heart, producing coronary-dilatory, metabolically active glycopeptides with physico-chemical and biological properties similar to those of previously discovered cardioactive hypothalamic neurohormones--are summarized. Heart hormones participate in both local and distant regulation of heart metabolism

Mixed neuroendocrine–non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) of the rectum
Clinical Journal of GastroenterologyA 75-year-old man presented to our hospital complaining of abdominal distention. He underwent lower gastrointestinal endoscopic examination, which indicated a raised tumor of 20 mm in diameter in the sigmoid colon transition region of the rectum.
