The Bifurcating Neuron Network 1
Neural Networks, 2001The Bifurcating Neuron (BN), a chaotic integrate-and-fire neuron, is a model of a neuron augmented by coherent modulation from its environment. The BN is mathematically equivalent to the sine-circle map, and this equivalence relationship allowed us to apply the mathematics of one-dimensional maps to the design of BN networks.

Casopis lekaru ceskych, 2005
Function of the central nervous system is based on mutual relations among the nerve cells. Description of nerve cells and their processes, including their contacts was enabled by improvement of optical features of the microscope and by the development of impregnation techniques.

Physiology of neuronal–glial networking
Neurochemistry International, 2010Neuronal-glial networks are the substrate for the brain function. Evolution of the nervous system resulted in the appearance of highly specialized neuronal web optimized for rapid information transfer. This neuronal web is embedded into glial syncytium, thereby creating sophisticated neuronal-glial circuitry were both types of neural cells are working ...

Modeling, estimation and control of neurons and neuronal networks
22nd Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, 2014In this tutorial, we will introduce different models of neurons and networks of neuronal populations that are commonly used in the field of computational neuroscience. We will cover biophysical-based models of neurons and hybrid models of neural networks.

Pacemaker neurons and neuronal networks: an integrative view
Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 2004Rhythmically active neuronal networks give rise to rhythmic motor activities but also to seemingly non-rhythmic behaviors such as sleep, arousal, addiction, memory and cognition. Many of these networks contain pacemaker neurons. The ability of these neurons to generate bursts of activity intrinsically lies in voltage- and time-dependent ion fluxes ...

Understanding neuronal molecular networks builds on neuronal cellular network architecture
Brain Research Reviews, 2008The central nervous system (CNS) is a nested network at all levels of its organization. In particular, neuronal cellular networks (the neuronal circuits), interconnected to form neuronal systems, are formed by neurons, which operate thanks to their molecular networks.

A review for dynamics in neuron and neuronal network
Nonlinear Dynamics, 2017The biological Hodgkin–Huxley model and its simplified versions have confirmed its effectiveness for recognizing and understanding the electrical activities in neurons, and bifurcation analysis is often used to detect the mode transition in neuronal activities.

Bioartificial Neuronal Networks: Coupling Networks of Biological Neurons to Microtransducer Arrays
2004In this chapter we introduce the concept of bioartificial neuronal networks, that is networks of biological neurons cultured in-vitro and coupled to Micro Transducer Arrays (MTAs). In-vitro cultured neurons extracted from rats or mice embryos form a bi-dimensional physical model of the brain and, in spite of their simplified level of organization, are ...

Reconstruction of neuronal networks in culture
Trends in Neurosciences, 1992Since the 1960s, the large neurones of some invertebrates have been exploited in attempts to define the neural circuits that underlie simple behaviours. Even in the relatively 'simple' nervous systems of these animals, it is often difficult to study individual synaptic connections in detail and to rule out involvement of unidentified neurones.
