Repurposing antimicrobial agents for neuroprotection: Mechanisms, clinical potential, and challenges

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial agents exert neuroprotective effects through modulation of interconnected pathways. Tetracyclines, macrolides, antimalarial agents, sulfones, and antiparasitic agents suppress neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis while preserving mitochondrial function and neurotransmission.

Noninvasive or minimally invasive neuromodulation in animal models of acute ischemic stroke: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
This systematic review and meta‐analysis assessed the cytoprotective effects of neuromodulation in preclinical models of ischemic stroke. Pooled analyses showed that neuromodulation significantly reduced infarct volume and improved neurological outcomes.

Regenerative Injection Laryngoplasty With Scaffold‐Forming Oligomer and Autologous Motor Endplate‐Expressing Cells: A 6‐Month Porcine Study

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Injection laryngoplasty is a standard‐of‐care intervention for unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP), offering minimally invasive medialization with limited durability. We evaluated a regenerative injectable approach integrating an immunotolerant scaffold‐forming collagen (Oligomer) with autologous motor‐endplate expressing (MEE ...

Effects of transcranial direct current stimulation on pain and function in patients with knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis is to determine the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) on pain (considering the different types of pain measured) and function in adults with knee osteoarthritis (OA).

Stem cell–mediated neuroplasticity and psychological recovery in cancer survivors: Mechanisms, evidence, and translational challenges

open access: yesPrecision Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
Cancer therapies can trigger neuroinflammation and disrupted neuroplasticity, contributing to cognitive impairment and psychological distress in survivors. Stem cells (NSCs/MSCs) and their extracellular vesicles may restore neural niches via trophic support, immunomodulation, synaptic remodeling, and vascular repair, but require rigorous safety, dosing,
