Neutral Point Supply Scheme for PMSM Drive to Boost DC Voltage

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
A novel scheme to supply AC motor drive with a boost function has been proposed. Different from the classic scheme for a three-phase two-level inverter, the main idea of this so-called Neutral Point Supply (NPS) scheme is to move the power supply to the neutral point of machine. It allows to have the capability of boosting DC-bus voltage without adding

A theoretical study of neutral point voltage balancing problem in three-level neutral- point-clamped PWM VSI

2007 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2007
This paper investigates the neutral point voltage balancing problem in three-level NPC PWM VSI theoretically. Current vector is introduced to model the disturbance of NP voltage due to middle voltage vectors and small voltage vectors. The ripple of NP voltage is consisting of two parts, one is low-frequency and the other is high frequency.

A modulation technique of neutral point clamped converters with common-mode voltage reduction and neutral-point potential balance

2016 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2016
Common mode voltage output is closely associated with switching states in three-phase three-wire neutral-point clamped inverter. Detailed analysis shows avoiding redundant states can effectively improve the common mode voltage, so this paper proposes a pulse width modulation (PWM) technique with zero redundant states to reduce the common mode voltage ...

Analysis of neutral-point voltage balancing problem in three-level neutral-point-clamped inverters with SVPWM modulation

IEEE 2002 28th Annual Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 02, 2003
In this paper, the evolution and the control options of the neutral point potential in NPC inverters with SVPWM modulation are analysed. In this analysis, the different components that can be found in the phase current are taken into account: fundamental, DC current and harmonics.

A Comprehensive Study of Neutral-Point-Clamped Voltage Source PWM Rectifiers

2010
In this paper, the neutral-point-clamped voltage source PWM rectifier is studied. The neutral-point balancing problem is analyzed in detail. A new neutral-point balancing method which is useful for four-quadrant operation of rectifiers is proposed. Besides, a new simplified three-level SVPWM is presented.

Evaluation of the low-frequency neutral-point voltage oscillations in the three-level inverter

IECON'03. 29th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37468), 2004
The nearest vectors to the reference vector are commonly used in space-vector modulation (SVM) strategies. The main advantages of these modulation strategies are the low switching frequencies of the devices, the good output voltage spectra, and the low electromagnetic interference.

A Neutral Point Voltage Balancing Method for Multi-Level GTO Inverters

Conference Record of the 2006 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Forty-First IAS Annual Meeting, 2006
The balancing problem of the DC-link capacitor voltage is inherent in the NPC inverter. It is extremely important to keep the upper and lower DC-link capacitor voltages balanced to guarantee the three level operation of the inverter. Generally, the balancing of the DC-link voltage degrades at very low operating frequencies of the inverter.

Fast-Processing Modulation Strategy for the Neutral-Point-Clamped Converter With Total Elimination of Low-Frequency Voltage Oscillations in the Neutral Point

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2007
This paper presents a novel modulation strategy for a neutral-point-clamped converter. This strategy overcomes one of the main problems of this converter, which is the low-frequency voltage oscillation that appears in the neutral point under some operating conditions.
