Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Validity of a Wearable Digital Insole for Assessing Gait ON and OFF in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Gait impairment is a distinctive symptom of Parkinson's disease that negatively impact mobility. We assessed the validity of wearable digital insoles against a validated reference gait analysis system for measuring select gait characteristics in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods A comparative analysis between digital insoles

IV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods We performed a time‐to‐event analysis of consecutive patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (acLVO ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Is Everything Neutral? [PDF]

open access: yes
In his well-known analysis of the national debt, Robert Barro introduced the notion of a "dynastic family." This notion has since become a standard research tool, particularly in the areas of public finance and macroeconomics.

Monetary neutrality [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The work for which I have received this prize was part of an effort to understand how changes in the conduct of monetary policy can influence inflation, employment, and production. So much thought has been devoted to this question and so much evidence is available that one might reasonably assume that it had been solved long ago.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

High-pressure torsion for new hydrogen storage materials

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2018
High-pressure torsion (HPT) is widely used as a severe plastic deformation technique to create ultrafine-grained structures with promising mechanical and functional properties.
