The graphic illustrates the design of a hybrid bilayer composed of a liquid crystal hydrogel (LCH) and a liquid crystal network (LCN). The figure highlights the magnetic alignment of the chromonic hydrogel and the thermal‐responsive actuation of the LCN along with the LCH when both layers are aligned or misaligned, enabling programmable, light‐driven ...

Electrochemical CO2RR is a key technology for converting CO2 into chemicals, but there remains a gap between “laboratory science” and “engineering practice” in current research. This review establishes a multi‐scale research framework, encompassing atomic‐level characterization, microenvironment regulation, external field‐assisted optimization, and AI ...

De Rerum Natura: How Do Halide Perovskites Self‐Heal From Damage?
How can lead‐halide‐perovskites self‐heal after damage from light, heat, mechanical strain, or radiation? We show that reversible chemical defects underly performance losses and recovery, highlighting the roles of halide and proton migration, redox‐driven reactions, and acid‐base equilibria.

Effects of neutral beam injection on tearing mode stability: insights from hybrid simulations
In tokamak plasmas, tangential neutral beam injection (NBI) produces (a large fraction of) circulating energetic ions (CEIs) and induces plasma toroidal rotation, both of which play an important role in the stability of tearing mode (TM).

Optimization of a large-area grid electrode for negative ion source in fusion neutral beam injector
At present, the CRAFT (Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Technology) dual-driver negative ion source for neutral beam injection applications has made progress. In order to solve the problem of heat removal function in large-area extraction grid,

Two‐Photon 3D Printing of Functional Microstructures Inside Living Cells
This study demonstrates 3D printing inside living cells by using two‐photon photo‐lithography. A bio‐compatible photoresist is injected into cells and selectively polymerized with a femtosecond laser, creating custom‐shaped intracellular structures with submicron resolution.

Heating and current drive in STEP: why neutral beam injection is not desirable
Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) is the UK’s prototype fusion power plant programme aiming to demonstrate net electrical output from a spherical tokamak. The plasma scenarios require a completely non-inductive current drive for the flat-top
