Sol–Gel Derived Polymer Precursors for Stereolithography of ZrC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
ZrC is a critical material target for extreme temperature conditions. This report describes a protocol for preparing ZrC ceramics via stereolithography and examines the impact of the polymer matrix on carbothermal reduction and mechanical stability of 3D printed ZrC.

Nonreciprocal wave scattering on nonlinear string-coupled oscillators

open access: yes, 2014
We study scattering of a periodic wave in a string on two lumped oscillators attached to it. The equations can be represented as a driven (by the incident wave) dissipative (due to radiation losses) system of delay differential equations of neutral type.

Thermophysical Properties of the Desulphurization Slags With Various CaS and CaO/Al2O3 Ratio

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates how CaS content and the CaO/Al2O3 ratio influence the thermophysical properties of desulphurization slags. Using experimental measurements and thermodynamic simulations, this study reveals complex effects on viscosity, surface tension, and density, providing new insight into slag structure and phase behavior under ...

Functional differential equations of third order

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2005
In this paper, we consider the third-order neutral functional differential equation with distributed deviating arguments. We give sufficient conditions for the oscillatory behavior of this functional differential equation.

Differentiability of solutions of abstract neutral integro- differential equations

open access: yesJournal of Integral Equations and Applications, 2013
This work is concerned with the regularity properties of solutions of abstract neutral integro-differential equations with infinite delay. The results are obtained by using a resolvent operator. Some different cases are discussed when the space is reflexive or has the Radon-Nikodym property.

Characterization of a Recyclate‐Based MgO‐Steel Composite As‐Sintered Inert Anode Candidate After Exposure to Cryolite Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon‐free inert anodes are essential for decarbonizing aluminum electrolysis. This study investigates a recyclate‐based MgO‐316L steel composite anode tested under galvanostatic Hall–Héroult conditions in cryolite at 1000°C. Microstructural analysis reveals selective MgO fluorination, spinel and oxide layer formation, electrolyte infiltration, and ...

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Estimation of Solutions of Differential Systems with Delayed Argument of Neutral Type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Tato disertační práce pojednává o řešení diferenciálních rovnic a systémů diferenciálních rovnic. Hlavní pozornost je věnována asymptotickým vlastnostem rovnic se zpožděním a systémů rovnic se zpožděním.

Surface Vacuum Energy in Cutoff Models: Pressure Anomaly and Distributional Gravitational Limit

open access: yes, 2012
Vacuum-energy calculations with ideal reflecting boundaries are plagued by boundary divergences, which presumably correspond to real (but finite) physical effects occurring near the boundary. Our working hypothesis is that the stress tensor for idealized
