THE TURBULENCE VELOCITY POWER SPECTRUM OF NEUTRAL HYDROGEN IN THE SMALL MAGELLANIC CLOUD [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2015
We present the results of the Velocity Coordinate Spectrum (VCS) technique to calculate the velocity power spectrum of turbulence in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) in 21cm emission. We have obtained a velocity spectral index of -3.85 and an injection scale of 2.3 kpc. The spectral index is steeper than the Kolmogorov index which is expected for shock-

The Astrochemical Evolution of Turbulent Giant Molecular Clouds : I - Physical Processes and Method of Solution for Hydrodynamic, Embedded Starless Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Contemporary galactic star formation occurs predominantly within gravitationally unstable, cold, dense molecular gas within supersonic, turbulent, magnetized giant molecular clouds (GMCs).

Neutral Hydrogen (H i) 21 cm as a Probe: Investigating Spatial Variations in Interstellar Turbulent Properties

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Interstellar turbulence shapes the H i distribution in the Milky Way (MW). How this affects large-scale statistical properties of H i column density across the MW remains largely unconstrained.

10. Radio observations of interstellar neutral hydrogen clouds [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1957
The detailed relationship between optical interstellar absorption lines and 21-cm. observations is investigated in this paper.Dr Guido Münch, of the Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories, provided the list of six intermediate-latitude stars shown in Table 1. The spectra of these stars all show complex absorption lines due to interstellar Ca 11. The 21-

A Catalog of HI Clouds in the Large Magellanic Cloud

open access: yes, 2007
A 21 cm neutral hydrogen interferometric survey of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) combined with the Parkes multi-beam HI single-dish survey clearly shows that the HI gas is distributed in the form of clumps or clouds. The HI clouds and clumps have been

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

Atomic and Molecular Gas in the Milky Way. I. Structure Decomposition

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present GDCluster, a fully automated algorithm for decomposing a spectral-line data cube of interstellar gas into coherent structures. Assuming a multi-Gaussian nature of observed spectra, GDCluster employs and augments the derivative spectroscopy ...

Graphene Nanosheet‐Based Mixed Proton‐Electron Conducting Membranes for Efficient Hydrogen Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A monolayer graphene/phosphoric‐acid mixed proton‐electron conducting membrane combines proton‐conducting nanoconfined acid channels with electron‐conducting graphene nanosheets for efficient high‐temperature hydrogen purification. The membrane achieves nearly 100% H2/CO2 selectivity and 69 GPU hydrogen permeance at 250°C, arising from synergistic ...

FEASTS and MHONGOOSE: H I Column Density Distribution at z = 0 for NHI > 1017.8 cm−2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the first z = 0 H I column density distribution function, f ( N _HI ), extending down to $\mathrm{log}({N}_{{\rm{HI}}}/{{\rm{cm}}}^{-2})=17.8$ . This was derived from high-sensitivity 21 cm emission-line imaging at ∼1 kpc resolution.

A Search for Gas-Rich Dwarf Galaxies in the Local Universe with ALFALFA and the WIYN One Degree Imager

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
We present results from an optical search for Local Group dwarf galaxy candidates associated with the Ultra-Compact High Velocity Clouds (UCHVCs) discovered by the ALFALFA neutral hydrogen survey.
