Analysis of Influence Factors of Negative Skin Friction on PHC Pile in High-Backfill Sites
It is recognized that NSF on a pile affects the structural and geotechnical design. The formation of NSF on a pre-stressed high-strength concrete (PHC) pile under a control building in a Vietnamese project was investigated using a verified numerical ...

Effect of Elastically Restrained Edges on Free Transverse Vibration of Functionally Graded Porous Rectangular Plate [PDF]
In this paper, the author studied free transverse vibration of a thin isotropic simply-supported functionally graded (FG) rectangular plate with porosity effect based on classical plate theory. The plate is considered to be elastically restrained against

The model of gravitational flows through a single opening
We proposed new basic equations and the approximate model for gravitational ventilation through a single openingm which can be incorporated into a ventilation network analysis.

Influence of fire position on smoke movement in an inner corridor building with multiple openings [PDF]
The influence of fire position on the neutral plane height was analyzed in order to analyze the smoke movement. One inner corridor building multiple openings was constructed by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and the airflow velocity and the ...

The distribution of neutral hydrogen in the colour–magnitude plane of galaxies [PDF]
ABSTRACT We present the conditional H i (neutral hydrogen) mass function (HIMF) conditioned on observed optical properties, Mr (r-band absolute magnitude), and Cur (u − r colour), for a sample of 7709 galaxies from Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA (40 per cent data release – α.40) which overlaps with a common volume in SDSS DR7.

Nonlinear neutral modes in zero-mass-flux Plane poiseuille-couette flow
SummaryPlane Poiseuille–Couette flow with zero mean advection velocity, a flow well known to be linearly stable, is analysed at asymptotically large Reynolds number R. A nonlinear neutral mode structure is uncovered which is self-sustained due to the interaction of the viscous wall layers with a predominantly inviscid nonlinear internal critical layer.

Cu–Al–Ni shape memory alloys (SMAs) have high thermal stability and various potential applications. The most significant factors limiting their application are their relatively low elastic strain and poor shape memory effect known as recoverable strain ...

Objective Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has indicated a higher rate of revision than total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The success of UKA depends on UKA component alignment, fixation, and soft tissue integrity.

Axisymmetric bending oscillations of stellar disks [PDF]
Self-gravitating stellar disks with random motion support both exponentially growing and, in some cases, purely oscillatory axisymmetric bending modes, unlike their cold disk counterparts.
