Reactions between neutrals clustered on ions
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1982The observation of a new kind of gas phase chemical reaction is reported. The reactions of O3 and N2O5 molecules with NO are greatly enhanced when the O3 and N2O5 molecules are clustered to chemically weak alkali ions. The alkali ions do not participate in chemical bonding but simply lower the activation energy for neutral reactions by the ...

Negative-Ion—Neutral Reactions
1972This chapter is concerned principally with two-body reactions between negative ions and neutral molecules at low energies in the gas phase. Introductory material on the formation and disappearance of negative ions is also included. Emphasis is placed on results arising from the use of mass spectrometer ion sources or double mass spectrometers as the ...

Rydberg-Neutral Ultracold Chemical Reactions
2020The previous chapter can be viewed as a “first” approach to ultracold Rydberg atoms and ultralong-range Rydberg molecules motivated by the promising applications of these entities in quantum technologies and the quantum simulation of complex systems [1].

Neutral-neutral reactions for the formation of C3O and C3S
Astrophysics and Space Science, 2014We investigate, neutral-neutral radiative association reactions (C2+CO) and (C2+CS) for the formation of C3O and C3S respectively by DFT. Both the reactions are spin allowed and found to be exothermic and barrierless in nature. The product of these reactions are perfectly linear and the calculated rotational transitions are in good agreement with ...

Negative-Ion–Neutral Reactions in N2O
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1970A double mass spectrometer system has been used to study the reactions O−+N2O→NO−+NO, O−+N2O→O2−+N2, and NO−+N2O→N2O−+NO over the range of reactant ion energies from 0.3 eV to about 35 eV. Using 18O−+N2O, both N16O− and N18O− are formed with approximately equal probability.

Experimental Measurements of the Rate Constants for Neutral-Neutral Reactions
1988This paper gives a brief review of experimental methods used to obtain rate data for neutral-neutral reactions involving free radicals. The application of these methods to reactions of two types — radical-molecule and radical-radical reactions — is illustrated by reference to some recent studies in the author’s laboratory.
