Neutron beam imaging at neutron spectrometers at Dhruva
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012A low efficiency, 2-Dimensional Position Sensitive Neutron Detector based on delay line position encoding is developed. It is designed to handle beam flux of 106-107 n/cm2/s and for monitoring intensity profiles of neutron beams. The present detector can be mounted in transmission mode, as the hardware allows maximum neutron transmission in sensitive ...

We describe the Neutron Imaging Camera (NIC) being developed for the detection of special nuclear material by NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and NSWC/Carderock. The NIC is a self-contained, robust, omnidirectional, and 3He-independent neutron detector based on the Three-Dimensional Track Imager (3-DTI) technology developed at GSFC for gamma ...

Performance optimization of the neutron-sensitive image intensifier used in neutron imaging
Chinese Physics BAbstract As a non-destructive testing technology, neutron imaging plays an important role in various fields, including material science, nuclear engineering, and fundamental science. An imaging detector with a neutron-sensitive image intensifier has been developed and demonstrated to achieve good spatial resolution and timing resolution.

Abstract Neutrons for imaging purposes are provided mainly from thermal beam lines at suitable facilities around the world. The access to cold neutrons is presently limited to very few places only. However, many challenging options for imaging with cold neutrons have been found out, given by the interaction behavior of the observed materials with ...

Neutron Imaging with Low-Intensity Neutron Sources
1987The performance of low intensity thermal neutron field radiography depends on the quality of the imaging system and the intensity and quality of the neutron beam. Therefore, the configuration and composition of the neutron moderator/collimator assembly were analyzed atnd optimized.

Mathematics of Neutron Imaging
2009Imaging with neutrons at macro-world scales (e.g., >10 μm) requires particular understanding of the non-diffracting or refracting interactions that these electrically neutral particles have with their environment. While image formation with neutrons shares some commonality with other radiation sources such as X-rays and gamma rays, neutrons provide ...

This chapter is dedicated to neutron phase imaging. We first review the underlying physical principles describing the phase shift that neutrons experience when they propagate through matter. Based on these principles we describe the three main approaches for neutron phase imaging and discuss their extension to three-dimensional neutron phase tomography.
