Nuclear Pairing Gaps and Neutron Star Cooling

open access: yesUniverse, 2020
We study the cooling of isolated neutron stars with particular regard to the importance of nuclear pairing gaps. A microscopic nuclear equation of state derived in the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach is used together with compatible neutron and proton ...

Bright Monocompound Metal Halide Scintillator for Fast Neutron Radiography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal halide scintillator, tetraphenylphosphonium manganese bromide (TPP2MnBr4), provides a significant benefit for fast neutron imaging. A fourfold increase in efficiency over traditional zinc sulfide screens is achieved by efficiently utilizing neutron interactions within its homogeneous structure.

Magnetar QPOs and Neutron Star Crust Elasticity

open access: yesUniverse
The crust region is a tiny fraction of neutron stars, but it has a variety of physical properties and plays an important role in astronomical observations. One of the properties characterizing the crust is elasticity. In this review, with the approach of

SOFT GAMMA REPEATERS AND ANOMALOUS X-RAY PULSARS BEYOND MAGNETARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2016
The observational properties of Soft Gamma Repeaters and Anomalous X-ray Pulsars (SGR/AXP) indicate to necessity of the energy source different from a rotational energy of a neutron star.

Intermediate-Mass-Elements in Young Supernova Remnants Reveal Neutron Star Kicks by Asymmetric Explosions

open access: yes, 2018
The birth properties of neutron stars yield important information on the still debated physical processes that trigger the explosion and on intrinsic neutron-star physics.

Enhancing Mechanical Deformability of Rigid Conjugated Polymers through Functional Additive‐Induced Persistence Length Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a molecular strategy to enhance the stretchability of conjugated polymers by incorporating plasticizing molecular additives (PMAs). PMAs reduce the persistence length and promote chain entanglement, enabling deformable thin films with preserved electrical performance. A systematic analysis combining rheology, neutron scattering,

Decoding Hydrogel Porosity: Advancing the Structural Analysis of Hydrogels for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Porosity governs transport mechanics in hydrogels, yet characterization in its native state remains challenging. This work harnesses particle tracking to uncover three‐dimensional pore geometric features in polyethylene glycol hydrogels. Measurements in the native state reveal pores characteristics are comparable to those obtained by cryogenic scanning

GW170817 constraints analyzed with Gogny forces and momentum-dependent interactions

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
A set of equations of state obtained from finite-range Gogny forces and momentum-dependent interactions is used to investigate the recent observation of gravitational waves from the binary neutron star merger GW170817 event. For this set of interactions,

GW170817: Joint Constraint on the Neutron Star Equation of State from Multimessenger Observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gravitational waves detected from the binary neutron star (NS) merger GW170817 constrained the NS equation of state by placing an upper bound on certain parameters, describing the binary’s tidal interactions.
