Pellet bed reactor for nuclear propelled vehicles: Part 1: Reactor technology [PDF]

open access: yes
The pellet bed reactor (PBR) for nuclear propelled vehicles is briefly discussed. Much of the information is given in viewgraph form. Viewgraphs include information on the layout for a Mars mission using a PBR nuclear thermal rocket, the rocket reactor ...

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

Analyzing the thermionic reactor critical experiments [PDF]

open access: yes
The Thermionic Reactor Critical Experiments (TRCE) consisted of fast spectrum highly enriched U-235 cores reflected by different thicknesses of beryllium or beryllium oxide with a transition zone of stainless steel between the core and reflector.

Layer‐Dependent Antiferromagnetic Chern and Axion Insulating States in UOTe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Layer‐dependent topological phases are identified in the van der Waals antiferromagnet UOTe. Ab initio calculations reveal bilayer UOTe as a rare example of high‐temperature antiferromagnetic Chern insulator with quantized Hall conductivity and near‐zero net magnetization, while odd‐layer films exhibit axion‐insulator‐like behavior with quantized spin ...

Direct Growth of Transparent Boron Nitride Neutron Shielding Layer for Space Window

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Direct growth of sp2‐sp3 hybridized BN (HBN) on quartz, enabled by an h‐BN buffer, produces transparent and stable films up to 80 µm thick with high transmittance and strong neutron shielding, making HBN a promising candidate for space windows in long‐term lunar missions.
