Radiation-Induced Wavelength Shifts in Fiber Bragg Gratings Exposed to Gamma Rays and Neutrons in a Nuclear Reactor. [PDF]

open access: yesSensors (Basel)
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) inscribed by UV light and different femtosecond laser techniques (phase mask, point-by-point, and plane-by-plane) were exposed—in several irradiation cycles—to accumulated high doses of gamma rays (up to 124 MGy) and neutron ...

Neutron-mirror neutron mixing and neutron stars [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2021
AbstractThe oscillation of neutron n into mirror neutron $$n'$$ n ′ , its mass degenerate partner from dark mirror sector, can gradually transform the neutron stars into the mixed stars consisting in part of mirror dark matter. In quark stars $$n-n'$$

Investigation the Performance Accuracy of Contoured Dual Ring Double Scatterer System for Flat Beam Generation at Proton Therapy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Physics and Engineering, 2023
Background: At proton radiotherapy, the extracted beam from accelerator is not initially suitable for tumor treatment and a modification is needed for beam shape and energy due to tumor dimension and site.

Resolving Gas Bubbles Ascending in Liquid Metal from Low-SNR Neutron Radiography Images

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
We demonstrate a new image processing methodology for resolving gas bubbles travelling through liquid metal from dynamic neutron radiography images with an intrinsically low signal-to-noise ratio.

Neutron–Mirror-Neutron Oscillation and Neutron Star Cooling

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2022
It was pointed out in a recent paper that the observed cooling rate of old, cold neutron stars (NS) can provide an upper limit on the transition rate of neutron to mirror neutron ($n-n'$). This limit is so stringent that it would preclude any discovery of $n \to n'$ oscillation in the current round of terrestrial searches for the process.

Single Event Upsets Under Proton, Thermal, and Fast Neutron Irradiation in Emerging Nonvolatile Memories

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In New Space, the need for reduced cost, higher performance, and more prompt delivery plans in radiation-harsh environments have motivated spacecraft designers to use Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) memories and emerging technology devices.
