Neutrophil Count Is Associated With Risks of Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2017
We have read the article written by Shah et al. [(1)][1] with great interest and appreciation. The study revealed neutrophil counts (NCs) were strongly associated with the incidence of some cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), but not others, even within the normal range.

Beyond Visual Scoring: Computational Computed Tomography Analysis for High‐Resolution Computed Tomography–Based Quantification of Interstitial Lung Disease in Inflammatory Rheumatic Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with inflammatory rheumatic disorders (IRDs). High‐resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is widely considered the gold standard for the noninvasive assessment of ILD; however, its interpretation is constrained by substantial interobserver variability and the ...

Single‐Cell Resolution Mapping of Osteoarthritis‐Associated Chondrocyte Dynamics Using a High‐Density CMOS MEA Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐cell and spatially resolved impedance mapping using a high‐density CMOS‐MEA platform enables non‐invasive monitoring of osteoarthritis‐associated chondrocyte dynamics. Continuous label‐free measurements reveal heterogeneous remodeling behaviors, including proliferation, migration, and phenotypic transitions, establishing a powerful approach for ...

Evaluation of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio as a Biomarker in Children with Exacerbated Asthma [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the airways, defined by varying respiratory symptoms and variable expiratory airflow limitations, which may become persistent over time. Aim: To evaluate correlation between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio

Role of eosinophil count and neutrophil: lymphocyte count ratio as prognostic markers in patients with sepsis

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Several biomarkers, such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and Procalcitonin have been used to indicate bacterial infection in sepsis. They have limited sensitivity and specificity with high cost, placing them practically out of reach for poor ...

Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Targeting CD300a Signaling With a Phosphatidylserine‐Presenting Hydrogel Rescues Macrophage Dysfunction and Accelerates Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the proposed mechanism: PEG/RGD‐PSLs mimic apoptotic cells to engage PS receptors (notably CD300a), transducing an inhibitory signal that suppresses the MyD88/NF‐κB pathway, leading to global anti‐inflammatory and pro‐reparative effects.
