A 7-month-old boy had a giant pigmented lesion involving the trunk and thighs that exhibited many hyperpigmented hairy and verrucous nevi. One of the nevi ulcerated and on histological examination consisted of pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma cells that stained for muscle-specific actin (HHF-35), desmin, and myoglobin.

The occasional occurrences of combined hamartomas composed of nevus cell nevi and adnexal tumors are not chance happenings. Pigmented nevi are malformations consisting of nevus cells together with various connective tissue and epithelial components.

PIGMENTED bands of the fingernails are occasionally seen by the dermatologist, but the lesion must be rare since only three cases occurring in white persons have been reported in the literature. Two cases have also been reported in Negroes, although it would appear that this phenomenon is not uncommon among them.

Nevus fusco-caeruleus ophthalmo-maxillaris Ota is a pigmentary disorder confined to the eyelids, zygomatic and frontal regions, and sometimes to the nose, ear lobe, retroauricular region and the anterior portion of the scalp. A first case of this nevus with pigmentation on the lips is reported by us.

Reed's pigmented spindle cell nevus is often misdiagnosed as malignant melanoma despite reliable clinical and histopathologic diagnostic features. In the present report, 10 cases of pigmented spindle cell nevus were studied with step sections to identify Kamino's eosinophilic globules.
