Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

NEW DATA ON THE LATE MIOCENE BRACHIOPOD FAUNA OF TETTI BORELLI (PIEDMONT, N ITALY)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2018
After a small brachiopod fauna was published in 2010 from the Tortonian Sant’Agata Fossili Formation of Tetti Borelli (N Italy), two new and more numerous brachiopod collections turned up from this locality.

A New Genus of Cucurbitaceæ [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1946
AN interesting plant was discovered in Assam in 1883 by the late Gustav Mann. Later, Mr. I. H. Burkill found it in Abor Hill during his expedition in 1911 and 1912 (Burkill, No. 37363 and 37742). After a lapse of twenty-two years, Dr. N. L. Bor again found the plant in April 1933 at a place called Painjuli, Aka Hills. Mann's sheets were examined at Kew

Validation of Neobirsteiniamysis Hendrickx and Tchindonova, proposed for the nomen nudum Birsteiniamysis Tchindonova (Crustacea: Mysida)

open access: yesNauplius, 2020
A new genus of Mysidae, Neobirsteiniamysis, was proposed in early 2020 for the nomen nudum Birsteiniamysis Tchindonova. This new genus, however, was not available for being published online only.
