Rhinoscleroma in the Western highlands of New Guinea

Abstract An endemic focus of rhinoscleroma in the Western Highlands of New Guinea is reported; 17 cases are presented. The disease has not previously been recorded in New Guinea although it has been well documented in Indonesia (Celebes). A clinical description is outlined which may have slight differences from other rhinoscleromatous areas.
