Computer-assisted analysis of pleural and subpleural lung ultrasound correlates with oxygenation in preterm infants

open access: yesScientific Reports
Lung ultrasound (LUS) is increasingly used in neonatal intensive care, however visual scoring of LUS images remains subjective. Quantitative LUS (Q-LUS) is objective and whilst it detects small lung aeration changes in preterm animals, human data are ...

Massage Stimulation Reduces Tumor Necrotic Factor-alpha and Interleukin-6 in Preterm, Low Birth Weight with Appropriate Gestational Age Newborns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Preterm newborn is susceptible from various stresses such as infections or non infections. During stress, immune response is activated by synthesizing and releasing of cytokines from activated immune cells into the circulation.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...
