Up-hill avoidance: A new passive-avoidance task

Physiology & Behavior, 1979
Abstract Rodents and many other animal species orient and locomote up-hill when placed on a tilted surface. When placed with head facing downwards on an incline, rats turn around and climb up reliably within a few seconds. This behavior can be suppressed by a contingent tail-shock, and therefore is a suitable response for studying passive avoidance ...

New Concepts in Collision Avoidance Logic

IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, 1984
Airborne collision avoidance logic is being developed to take advantage of the accurate bearing measurements provided by the Enhanced TCAS II system. This system issues horizontal and vertical resolution advisories, and should give fewer unnecessary alarms than earlier systems.

Avoidance maps: A new concept in UAV collision avoidance

2017 International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (ICUAS), 2017
A new concept of avoidance map is introduced which can effectively execute collision avoidance among UAVs. It is based upon representation of the effect of control effort by pairs of UAVs on achievement of avoidance, thus partitioning the control effort space into avoidance and collision regions.

New results in optimal missile avoidance analysis

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1992
Optimal missile avoidance of a constant speed aircraft from a coasting missile of first-order dynamics, guided by proportional navigation is analysed in the plane. This model allows the investigation of the "missile outrunning" and "end game evasion" maneuvers in the same engagement.
