Geometry of motion: some elements of its historical development

open access: yesArtefactos, 2019
In this paper we return to Marshall Clagett’s view about the existence of an ancient Greek geometry of motion. It can be read in two ways. As a basic presentation of ancient Greek geometry of motion, followed by some aspects of its further development in

Gauging Newton's law [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Physics, 2007
We derive both Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics as gauge theories of Newtonian mechanics. Systematic development of the distinct symmetries of dynamics and measurement suggest that gauge theory may be motivated as a reconciliation of dynamics with measurement.

Revisitando dois paradigmas na Ciência da Religião

open access: yesHorizonte, 2019
O estudo da religião envolve tipologias para o investigador na compreensão teórica do campo. Propõe-se aqui uma tipologia em termos de paradigmas, o newtoniano e o romântico.

Comparative analysis of the surface roughness of conventional resins and filling after immersion in mouthwashes

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oral Sciences, 2020
Aim: Bulk Fill composite resins were released on the market in order to reduce the time in clinical sessions by using increments of up to 5.0 mm thickness. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the rinsing solutions on the surface roughness

L'identità transgender della fotografia di moda negli anni Ottanta. I casi Newton e Scianna

open access: yesZoneModa Journal, 2019
At the beginning of the Eighties, the discussion around the photography’s issues is influenced by an anti-ideological climate. Core of this discussione is the difference between the so-called “pure” photographers and the “artists” photographers, a ...

Dual targeting of FGFR3 and ERBB3 enhances the efficacy of FGFR inhibitors in FGFR3 fusion-driven bladder cancer

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2022
Background Mutations and fusions in Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 3 (FGFR3) occur in 10–20% of metastatic urothelial carcinomas and confer sensitivity to FGFR inhibitors. However, responses to these agents are often short-lived due to the development

Newton's method

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, 2010
AbstractNewton's method is one of the most powerful techniques for solving systems of nonlinear equations and minimizing functions. It is easy to implement and has a provably fast rate of convergence under fairly mild assumptions. Because of these and other nice properties, Newton's method is at the heart of many solution techniques used to solve real ...

Newton Law on the Generalized Singular Brane with and without 4d Induced Gravity

open access: yes, 2003
Newton law arising due to the gravity localized on the general singular brane embedded in $AdS_5$ bulk is examined in the absence or presence of the 4d induced Einstein term.

On the Hodge-Newton filtration for p-divisible groups of Hodge type

open access: yes, 2017
A p-divisible group, or more generally an F-crystal, is said to be Hodge-Newton reducible if its Hodge polygon passes through a break point of its Newton polygon.
