High‐throughput single‐cell analysis of resuscitating bacteria reveals a starvation‐history‐dependent transiently tolerant subpopulation that survives β$\beta$‐lactam exposure by temporarily reducing growth. Distinct from classical persisters, these actively growing yet dynamically modulated cells dominate survival across clinically relevant antibiotic

A Newton Method for Linear Programming
A fast Newton method is proposed for solving linear programs with a very large ( 106) number of constraints and a moderate ( 102) number of variables. Such linear programs occur in data mining and machine learning.

Quantum Photothermal Self‐Monitoring Fiber Probes for In Vivo Photothermal Therapy
A miniaturized quantum photothermal fiber probe based on a metal/polymer/glass composite optoelectronic fiber that simultaneously guides lightwave and microwave was developed for the first time. The probe achieves enhanced photothermal conversion (13°C/mW, 25°C–120°C range) while providing real‐time self‐monitoring with 0.2°C thermal resolution at the ...

To explore the impact of nanosizing on pesticide biointeractions, a 7‐nm (average) emamectin benzoate nanopesticide without nanocarriers or surfactants is fabricated via HOAc‐mediated disaggregation. Nanosizing enhances bioactivity against Megalurothrips usitatus and Meloidogyne enterolobii and improves plant penetration.

Newton’s Method in Three Precisions
We describe a three precision variant of Newton's method for nonlinear equations. We evaluate the nonlinear residual in double precision, store the Jacobian matrix in single precision, and solve the equation for the Newton step with iterative refinement with a factorization in half precision. We analyze the method as an inexact Newton method.
