An all‐polymer blend for photovoltaic applications: A combined photoabsorption, photoemission and ab initio multi‐configurational study

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Near‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and multi‐configuration self‐consistent field results show, respectively, preferential edge‐on and face‐on orientations for the thiophene and naphthalene diimide units of the PBDB‐T‐SF:P(NDI2OD‐T2) all‐polymer blend, and surface accumulation of the acceptor.

An electrochemical flow cell for operando XPS and NEXAFS investigation of solid–liquid interfaces

open access: yesJPhys Energy
Suitable reaction cells are critical for operando near ambient pressure (NAP) soft x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) studies. They enable tracking the chemical state and structural properties of

Structure formation in organic thin films observed in real time by energy dispersive near-edge x-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We study the structure formation of 1,4,5,8-naphthalene-tetracarboxylicacid-dianhydride (NTCDA) multilayer films on Ag(111) surfaces by energy dispersive near-edge x-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS) and photoelectron spectroscopy.

Amorphization‐Induced Storage Mechanism Transition in Vanadium Oxide Cathodes for Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesSusMat, EarlyView.
By synthesizing both crystalline and amorphous vanadium oxide, this study elucidates their structure‐property relationship, demonstrating that the amorphous cathode exhibits superior specific capacity, exceptional rate capability, and outstanding long‐term cycling stability.

Decoupling Electronic Activation and Pore Connectivity in Acidic Oxygen Reduction on Metal‐Free Biomass‐Derived Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 August 2026.
Acidic ORR on biomass‐derived carbon is described by partially separable electronic and transport contributions. Defect‐derived electronic states are associated with the onset region, whereas connected three‐dimensional pore pathways are associated with accessibility in the transport‐influenced regime.

Towards atomic resolution in sodium titanate nanotubes using near-edge X-ray-absorption fine-structure spectromicroscopy combined with multichannel multiple-scattering calculations

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2012
Recent advances in near-edge X-ray-absorption fine-structure spectroscopy coupled with transmission X-ray microscopy (NEXAFS–TXM) allow large-area mapping investigations of individual nano-objects with spectral resolution up to E/ΔE = 104 and spatial ...

Sequential deposition enables suppression of spontaneous donor enrichment of the surface in spin-coated films

open access: yesJPhys Materials
Sequential deposition (SD) through independent processing of donor and acceptor materials, has emerged as a promising strategy to enable better control over the active layer morphology of organic solar cells.

Passivierung von Defektzuständen in organischen n‐Typ‐Ladungstransferkomplexen durch molekularen Sauerstoff

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 33, 10 August 2026.

Molecular Dioxygen‐Mediated Passivation of Electron Traps in n‐Type Organic Charge‐Transfer Complexes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 33, 10 August 2026.
O2 enhances charge‐transfer in n‐type organic donor–acceptor charge‐transfer complexes (CTCs) via physisorption‐mediated trap passivation. By suppressing recombination and promoting long‐lived delocalized charge carriers, O2 improves electron transport and conductivity without doping.
