Tailoring Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Post‐Processing Parameters for JIS SKD61 Tool Steels: Surface Roughness, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Laser powder bed fusion of JIS SKD61 tool steel is systematically optimized using a Taguchi design and ANOVA. Hatch spacing and layer thickness are identified as dominant parameters controlling surface roughness and tensile strength. Subsequent tempering at 600°C improves microstructural stability and mechanical performance, enabling high‐density SKD61

Duplex aluminized coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
The surface of a metallic base system is initially coated with a metallic alloy layer that is ductile and oxidation resistant. An aluminide coating is then applied to the metallic alloy layer.

High Cycle Fatigue Properties of PM‐HIPed High‐Nitrogen Tool Steel: Effect of Surface Condition

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 2097-2115, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study explores the impact of surface condition on high‐cycle fatigue performance of a high‐nitrogen martensitic tool steel manufactured through powder metallurgy and hot isostatic pressing. In near‐net manufacturing applications, acid‐leaching pickling treatment and/or machining is used as a post‐treatment to remove the powder container ...

High Temperature Nanoindentation of Ni-Base Superalloys

open access: yesSuperalloys 2008 (Eleventh International Symposium), 2008
Novel techniques for characterizing and assessing the properties of Ni-base superalloys are becoming increasingly important to the accelerated development of new structural alloys and the advancement of physics-based mechanical property models. Instrumented indentation techniques have long served as a useful approach for probing the mechanical response

Tribological Performance of 60NiTi Alloy Under Varying Contact Conditions and Elevated Temperatures in Linear Reciprocating Sliding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐

The characteristics of μ phase precipitated during 720 °C long-term aging in alloy 617B

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
In this work, the precipitation of μ phase is detected in alloy 617B during 720 °C aging for 10 000 h. The lattice parameters of μ phase is determined as a = 0.4720–0.4760 nm and c = 2.5394–2.5656 nm in this work.
