The micromechanical testing of Ni based superalloys
Ni superalloys are engineered material systems, where each microstructural feature conveys specific strengthening mechanisms. This project establishes experimental techniques which focus on understanding deformation in Ni superalloys; building upwards from single crystal CMSX-4, to polycrystalline FGH96, to carburised CMSX-4 & 10.

On the effect of Ti on Oxidation Behaviour of a Polycrystalline Nickel-based Superalloy [PDF]
Titanium is commonly added to nickel superalloys but has a well-documented detrimental effect on oxidation resistance. The present work constitutes the first atomistic-scale quantitative measurements of grain boundary and bulk compositions in the oxide ...

Micro‐Mechanism Informed Neural Networks for Process‐Property Prediction in Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Hard physics embedding, where neural networks learn residuals relative to analytical baselines, substantially outperforms soft loss‐function constraints for extrapolation in LPBF process–property prediction. Physics integration architecture determines generalization capability more than constraint quantity.

High Cycle Fatigue Properties of PM‐HIPed High‐Nitrogen Tool Steel: Effect of Surface Condition
ABSTRACT This study explores the impact of surface condition on high‐cycle fatigue performance of a high‐nitrogen martensitic tool steel manufactured through powder metallurgy and hot isostatic pressing. In near‐net manufacturing applications, acid‐leaching pickling treatment and/or machining is used as a post‐treatment to remove the powder container ...

This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐
