Investigation on the Origin of Sluggish Anionic Redox Kinetics in Cation-Disordered Cathode
Cation-disordered rock salt (DRX) cathodes exhibit high specific capacity due to the simultaneous use of anionic and cationic redox reactions. However, DRX systems face severe challenges that limit their practical applications; a most important challenge

A Li2O‐rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is engineered on graphite through a propylene carbonate‐based electrolyte to spatially regulate Li plating. The homogeneous interphase lowers Li nucleation barriers, promotes conformal Li deposition around graphite particles, and suppresses dendritic accumulation, enabling durable hybrid Li‐ion/Li‐metal ...

Disentangling Bulk and Surface Contributions to Charge and Discharge Fading in High‐Voltage LiCoO2
High‐voltage operation of LiCoO2 accelerates capacity fading through bulk and surface degradation. By introducing a LiTaO3 coating to selectively suppress surface degradation, bulk and surface contributions to charge and discharge fading are decoupled.

Lithium stoichiometry engineering for fast-charging NMC811 cathodes [PDF]
Ni-rich LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 (NMC811) cathodes are promising candidates for next-generation high-energy lithium-ion batteries; however, their practical application under fast-charging conditions is severely hindered by cation disorder, sluggish Li ...
