Concurrent arhinia and choanal atresia in a day old male kid

open access: yesBulgarian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2022
Arhinia is a congenital nasal developmental anomaly that is seldom reported in literature, and espe-cially not reported in domestic animals. This report describes a case of concurrent occurrence of con-genital arhinia and choanal atresia in a day-old ...

The effects of some agrotechnical measures on the uptake of nickel by maize plants [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2009
Nickel is a non-essential element in the nutrition of the majority of plant species and can be toxic to plants when its concentration in soils is high. Several soil properties have an effect on the uptake of this heavy metal by plants.

Glycerol Electrooxidation at Structured Nickel Electrodes and the Effect of Geometry on the Selectivity of Product

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 17, September 1, 2025.
The geometry of additively manufactured nickel electrodes influences the selectivity of glycerol electrooxidation. An increased surface area at zero depth correlates with higher selectivity for C2 and C3 products, as well as improved Faradaic efficiency.

Ni‐Based Catalysts for 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural Electrooxidation Coupled with Hydrogen Production

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 13, July 3, 2025.
The co‐electrolysis of H2O and 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) using Ni‐based catalysts, under alkaline conditions, co‐produces low‐carbon hydrogen and furandicarboxylic acid. This review delves into the electrooxidation mechanism of HMF electrooxidation, presents recent advancements in the performance of Ni‐based catalysts and highlights the effects of ...

Surface Properties of p‐GaN and Formation of Nickel Metal Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 13, July 14, 2025.
The amount of C, O, and Mg–O bonds on the surface of p‐GaN can be reduced while still maintaining the surface morphology by potassium hydroxide (KOH) wet chemical treatment. Heating this surface with Ni on top in ultra‐high vacuum (UHV) results in a crystalline Ga‐Ni alloy and diffusion of Ga, which creates vacancies close to valence band leading to ...

Magnetic‐Field Induced Charge Accumulation in Scalable Magnetoelectric PVDF‐TrFE/Ni Composite Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 4, Issue 6, June 2025.
This study reports strong magnetoelectric effects in PVDF‐TrFE/Ni bilayer composites. Direct measurements of charge accumulation reveal high induced polarization, corresponding to open circuit voltages of 75 mV. Finite element simulations are in good agreement with experiments and demonstrate device scalability.

Enhanced Recovery of Valuable Materials from Spent Lithium‐Ion Secondary Batteries Using Organic Acids as Leaching and Precipitating Agents

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 9, Issue 36, September 25, 2024.
Cathode active materials were separated from the Al foil at 400°C, and oxalates of Mn, Co, and Ni were obtained at a ratio of 1.5:1.0:2.5 by precipitation with oxalic acid after metal leaching with lactic acid. Abstract In this study, the cathode active material was first separated from the aluminum foil through a heat treatment at 500 °C.
