The valence-band structure of nickel aluminum was measured by use of angle-resolved photoemission with synchrotron radiation and calculated using the local-density approximation. The overall agreement between theory and experiment is remarkably good---much better than for pure nickel. This means that the self-energy'' corrections are significantly less

NiAl powder alloys: I. Production of NiAl powders
Russian Metallurgy (Metally), 2011The influence of five methods of production of Ni50Al50 powder alloys on the processes occurring during reactive alloy formation of nickel monoaluminide during heating is considered. It is shown that, when powder mixtures obtained by agitation in ball mills and cladded composite powders with a low level of internal stresses are used, it is possible to ...

Fracture toughness of NiAl and NiAl-based composites
Acta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1992Abstract Fracture toughness of hot pressed, fully dense stoichiometric and Ni-rich NiAl was measured using chevron-notched “short-rod” specimens. Whereas stoichiometric NiAl and Ni-rich NiAl containing 60 at.% Ni exhibit KIC of ∼6 MPa √m, toughness increases to ∼ MPa √m at a composition of 61.5 at.% Ni. This could be due to transformation toughening,

The properties of COCRPT/CRMN/NIAL and COCRPT/CR/NIAL films
IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 1999In this study, the effects of CrMn/NiAl and Cr/NiAl underlayers on microstructure and magnetic properties of CoCrPt magnetic layers are compared. CrMn intermediate layers were found to induce better in-plane texture and magnetic properties in CoCrPt films than Cr.

Nial-rich portion of the NiAl-Cr pseudobinary eutectic system
Journal of Phase Equilibria, 1993Differential thermal analysis (DTA) was used to determine the solidus and liquidus surfaces of the iAl-rich portion of the NiAl-Cr pseudobinary system. The results indicate that depressions in thes esurfaces due to Cr are larger than previously suggested and that the solubility of Cr in NiAl when substituted for AI is enhanced.

Abrasive wear behavior of NiAl and NiAl–TiB2 composites
Wear, 1999Abstract Abrasive wear of NiAl and NiAl with 10, 20, and 40 vol.% TiB 2 has been investigated using particles of different types and sizes. The addition of TiB 2 as a particulate reinforcement to NiAl increases the hardness of the composite with respect to NiAl, and reduces the wear rate at all volume fractions on garnet and Al 2 O 3 abrasives ...

Isothermal oxidation behavior of NiAl and NiAl-(Cr,Mo) eutectic alloys
Corrosion Science, 2019Abstract Isothermal oxidation behavior of NiAl, NiAl-34Cr, NiAl-28Cr-6Mo and NiAl-10Mo for up to 1000 h at 900 °C was studied. Post-mortem inspection was performed and the oxidation mechanism was analyzed. Surface coverage of the formed voids was quantitatively analyzed for the first time using image processing technique.
