Abstract The transient oxidation stage of single crystal (001)NiAl was investigated using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy. (001)NiAl was oxidized in air at 950°C for 50 h in order to produce transient forms of alumina on the surface. After oxidation, an oxide

Deformation in NiAl bicrystals
Acta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1991Abstract The effects of a concentrated local stress arising from elastic and plastic incompatibility at internal NiAl grain boundaries have been investigated in oriented NiAl bicrystals. Observations of surface slip markings and TEM characterization of the dislocations responsible for bicrystal deformation have been made.

Immobilization of U(VI) on Hierarchical NiSiO@MgAl and NiSiO@NiAl Nanocomposites from Wastewater
ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2019The emerging radioactive pollution caused by human activity has attracted increasing attention in the recent years. Uranium (U(VI)) is one of the key radionuclides in the environment, but its migration behavior is firmly controlled by the sorption ...

Using the local approximation for exchange-correlation effects we employ the linearized augmented-plane-wave method (LAPW) to compute self-consistently the band structure, equilibrium lattice constant, and x-ray spectra of the B2-phase of the NiAl intermetallic alloy. The results are compared to other theoretical and experimental data.

Adsorption and thermal decomposition of NH3 on NiAl(001) and NiAl(111)
Applied Surface Science, 1998Abstract The adsorption and thermal decomposition of ammonia (NH 3 ) on NiAl(001) and NiAl(111) was investigated by means of high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD). At 80 K, NH 3 adsorbs molecularly forming NH 3 multilayers on both surfaces.

Constitutional vacancies in NiAl
Intermetallics, 1995Abstract An explanation is offered, based on a simplified form of many-atom bonding theory, of why NiAl forms constitutional vacancies on its Ni sublattice when excess Al is present. The resultant increase in the number of Al atoms thereby able to bond with Ni atoms is only partially offset by the weakening of individual AlNi bonds, so that there is
