ABSTRACT This work focuses on the polymeric steric entrapment (PSE) technique to synthesize a series of (nRE1/n)3Al5O12, or compositionally complex rare‐earth aluminum garnet (CCREAG) compositions, where RE represents a variety of rare‐earth cations and n is the number of cations occupying the shared position. Using PSE, CCREAGs crystallized at ∼900°C.

Manufacturing problems such as heat treatment‐induced cracking hinder the widespread application of the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process to superalloys. In this study, cracks in the LPBF components of Inconel 738LC superalloy are characterized after heat treatment at various temperature ranges, revealing two distinct cracking behaviors.

–nickel‐base superalloy joints
Si3N4/nickel-base superalloy (Inconel-625) and Si3N4/Si3N4 joints with refractory metal (W and Mo) interlayers were vacuum brazed using a Ti-active braze Cu-ABA (92.75Cu–3Si–2Al–2.25Ti) at 1317 K for 30 min with the following interlayered arrangements ...

A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...

The characteristics of μ phase precipitated during 720 °C long-term aging in alloy 617B
In this work, the precipitation of μ phase is detected in alloy 617B during 720 °C aging for 10 000 h. The lattice parameters of μ phase is determined as a = 0.4720–0.4760 nm and c = 2.5394–2.5656 nm in this work.
