Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Nickel-Catalyzed Decarbonylative Borylation and Silylation of Esters

open access: yes, 2016
The nickel-catalyzed direct borylation and silylation of phenolic esters has been established. The key to this highly efficient acyl C–O bond borylative and silylative cleavage depends on the appropriate choice of different ligands and additives in the ...

Metil coenzima M redutase (MCR) e o fator 430 (F430)

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2006
This review presents studies on methyl coenzyme M reductase, the biological system Factor 430 (F430) and the use of nickel(II) complexes as structural and functional models. The ability of F430 and nickel(II) macrocycle complexes to mediate the reductive

Electrochemical Behavior of Nickel in the EMIC Ionic Liquid with Glycol

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
The electrochemistry of Ni(II) was studied with voltammetry and chronoamperometry at glass carbon (GC), mild steel (MS) and Pt electrodes in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium (EMIC) ionic liquid with ethylene glycol. Cyclic voltammetry results shows that Ni(II)

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

The development of a resin-in-pulp process for the recovery of nickel and cobalt from laterite leach slurries

open access: yes, 2005
The processing of laterite ores for the recovery of nickel and cobalt has increased as the reserves of exploitable sulphide ores have become depleted.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Tetraquabis(5-fluorosaccharinato)nickel(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
In the centrosymmetric title complex, [Ni(C7H3FNO3S)2(H2O)4], the NiII atom exhibits a slightly distorted trans-NiN2O4 octahedral coordination. The nitrogen donors are provided by two 5-fluorosaccharinate ligands and the oxygen donors are provided by ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
