Scenario‐Based AI Literacy Scale (SAILS): Evidence for distinct instrumental and critical‐reflective AI skills and their difference from traditional digital skills

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Given the increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into everyday life and professional contexts, it is essential to investigate learners' existing capabilities regarding AI tools to inform possible interventions to equip them with necessary AI skills, but also advance the theoretical frameworks on digital skills measurement and ...

Digital Transformation of Retail Work: The Rise of Chaotic Rationalisation

open access: yesBritish Journal of Industrial Relations, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine how new digital technologies are transforming labour processes in frontline jobs in United States (US) store‐based retail, examining the US as an extreme case of labour market liberalisation. Research on technological change presents three scenarios: job displacement, job enrichment and ‘digital Taylorism’ involving heightened ...

Not that different after all: Pro‐environmental social norms predict pro‐environmental behaviour (also) among those believing in conspiracy theories

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Social norms are powerful predictors of pro‐environmental behaviour. At the same time, conspiracy beliefs are prevalent that can reduce individuals' efforts to act pro‐environmentally and might impede the influence of social norms. Across three cross‐sectional studies in three countries (Germany, UK, US; total N = 1037), we investigated the ...

Intersections of Class and Colonisation: Access to Dental Care for Indigenous Peoples in Canada

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Inequitable access to healthcare is a central driver of the disproportionate burden of disease in Indigenous peoples. Interactive Groupwise Comparison for Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
The standard RLHF uses pairwise comparisons and therefore requires a large number of comparisons leading to a high workload. The comparison pairs are suggested by the system and cannot be chosen by the user. Our RLHF approach provides more agency to the user and demands less work: we leverage the user's visual abilities to effectively explore the ...

Register‐Efficient Linear‐Time Evaluation in the Bernstein Basis

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the evaluation of points and derivatives of Bézier curves and surfaces on modern architectures, focusing on performance and guided by numerical error bounds. While the de Casteljau algorithm remains the reference for numerical robustness, its linear working‐set size imposes substantial register pressure on GPUs.
