Distribution of solanesol in Nicotiana tabacum [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Forestry Research, 2007
Solanesol is an important secondary metabolite in Nicotiana tabacum. Distribution of solanesol in Nicotiana tabacum was investigated by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method. The quantitative distribution of solanesol in various organs and tissues of N. tabacum showed that solanesol content, obviously different in all organs, was 6.8, 18.

Bombiprenone from Nicotiana tabacum

Phytochemistry, 1972
Abstract Bombiprenone (6,10,14,18,22,26,30,34-octamethyl-5,9,13,17,21,25,29,33-pentatriacontaoctaen-2-one) has been isolated from flue-cured tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) in yields of 0·1–0·6% dry wt. Plastoquinone-A was converted to bombiprenone by aerobic photo-oxidation, most probably via a hydroperoxide.

Tryptophan synthase from Nicotiana tabacum

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1968
Abstract A study has been made of the properties of a tryptophan synthase ( l -serine hydro-lyase (adding indole), EC 4.2.1.20) obtained from cultured cells of Nicotiana tabacum var. Wisconsin 38. The data presented show that the enzyme more closely resembles the two-component bacterial type of tryptophan synthase in contrast to the single-component ...

A spontaneous haploid of Nicotiana Tabacum [PDF]

open access: possibleGenetica, 1943
1. A spontaneous haploid (2n=24) was found in an F3 family of the crossNicotiana Tabacum (Amersfoorter)×N.Tabacum atropurpurea. 2. The plant was a typical dwarf and appeared to be completely sterile. 3. At diakinesis and first metaphase 0,1 or 2 bivalents occurred, the average number per cell being 0,63 at diakinesis and 0,43

Characterizing the Genome of Nicotiana tabacum

2020
The tobacco plant is an important crop and model organism, and there is a widespread interest in improving its agronomical properties. Unraveling its genome is necessary for understanding and predicting its biological properties and to ultimately contribute to breeding or engineering efforts for creating new varieties.

Stable Expression of Adalimumab in Nicotiana tabacum

Molecular Biotechnology, 2018
Production of monoclonal antibodies and pharmaceutical proteins in transgenic plants has been the focus of many research efforts for close to 30 years. Use of plants as bioreactors reduces large-scale production costs and minimizes risk for human pathogens contamination.

Nicotiana tabacum callus studies

Zeitschrift für Pflanzenphysiologie, 1977
Summary The effects of auxin, cytokinin and sucrose on sieve element dimensions were investigated in Nicotiana callus cultures. Although significant differences in both mean length and mean diameter were established between various individual treatments, there was no consistent response to increasing the level of any one substance. The treatment that

Three TERT genes in Nicotiana tabacum

Chromosome Research, 2012
Telomerase is essential for proper functioning of telomeres in eukaryotes. We cloned and characterised genes for the protein subunit of telomerase (TERT) in the allotetraploid Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco) and its diploid progenitor species Nicotiana sylvestris and Nicotiana tomentosiformis with the aim of determining if allopolyploidy (hybridisation and

Sperm dimorphism in Nicotiana tabacum L.

Sexual Plant Reproduction, 2001
Sperm cells of tobacco have been intensively studied as examples of isomorphic gametes in which major cellular and organellar parameters remain statistically indistinguishable in the two sperm cells. An examination of sperm cells late in maturation, however, displays that the sperm cell associated with the vegetative nucleus becomes statistically ...
