Phytochemistry, 1972Abstract Bombiprenone (6,10,14,18,22,26,30,34-octamethyl-5,9,13,17,21,25,29,33-pentatriacontaoctaen-2-one) has been isolated from flue-cured tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) in yields of 0·1–0·6% dry wt. Plastoquinone-A was converted to bombiprenone by aerobic photo-oxidation, most probably via a hydroperoxide.

Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic trace metal pollutant for humans, animals, and plants. One of the ways for getting in the human body is through the plants which many of them can accumulate Cd in high amounts such as tobacco. In the present study the effect of different concentrations of Cd was determined in 17 tobacco cultivars in pots.
