The Effect of the Anticonvulsant Topiramate on Acetylcholine‐Induced Calcium Signals is Linked to Sirt‐1 Activity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 9, May 2026.
This work provides a potential new link between the anticonvulsive Topiramate, the deacetylase Sirt‐1 and the cholinergic signalling, suggesting that Topiramate may modulate cholinergic pathways in a Sirt‐1 depended manner. ABSTRACT Although some forms of epilepsy directly result from mutations in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, none of the ...

Review: “The Disappointment Dilemma: Short‐ and Long‐Term Learning From Negative Outcomes”

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 9, May 2026.
The habenula routes negative‐outcome signals to VTA, RMTg, and IPN to shape aversive learning and motivation. The lateral habenula encodes acute negative prediction errors to rapidly adapt behavior to threat, fear, and avoidance. The medial habenula integrates repeated stress, drug, and aversive experiences into long‐term negative mood and expectations.

Factors Associated With Cocaine Use Disorder: Results From the French Nationwide Repeated Cross‐Sectional OPPIDUM Study (2019–2023)

open access: yesFundamental &Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 40, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Cocaine use has increased both globally and nationally. This trend is accompanied by a rise in clinical complications. The objective of our study was to identify factors observed to be associated with cocaine use disorder, using data from the OPPIDUM program, collecting information directly from patients with substance use disorders recruiting

Association of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonist use with clinical outcomes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 766-780, May 2026.
This TriNetX (US, 2016–2023) study compared clinical outcomes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and type 2 diabetes treated with GLP‐1 receptor agonists vs DPP4 inhibitors. ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate whether glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) are associated with improved survival and renal outcomes in patients with ...
