Novel approach to shortening convergence of Euclidean’s greatest common divisor algorithm

open access: yesMathematics Open
Euclidean greatest common divisor (GCD) algorithm is a common and extraordinarily simple algorithm used to determine the highest common factor (HCF) of two numbers. Its ubiquitous application leverages its very high usefulness.

Transition in Global Basins From Precipitation‐Dominated to Evaporative Demand‐Dominated Meteorological Drought: Past Patterns and Future Projections

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Meteorological drought, one of the most destructive natural hazards, is driven by both precipitation deficits and high evaporative demand. While precipitation has traditionally been considered the dominant driver, recent studies suggest an increasing influence of evaporative demand.

A Coumarin Compound Derived From Zanthoxylum avicennae Reduces the Pathogenicity of Fusarium verticillioides by Directly Binding to and Inhibiting Glycoside Hydrolase 3 Activity

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 2, February 2026.
Luvangetin, a coumarin compound from Zanthoxylum avicennae roots, affects the cell wall degradation capacity and pathogenicity of Fusarium verticillioides on maize. Integrated transcriptomic, proteomic and in vitro activity analyses revealed that it binds to three critical sites of the Fusarium glycoside hydrolase 3 family (GH3) β‐glucosidase ...

Evolution of Production Specialization and Factor Accumulation in Sub‐Saharan and North Africa

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, Volume 30, Issue 1, Page 518-548, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite trade liberalization and regional economic integration policies, the level of trade and specialization in Africa is stagnating. This long‐term observation contrasts with recent developments in Africa since the 2000s. This study aims to assess how changes in factor endowments affect the specialization pattern of production, exploring ...

Reservoir Regulation has Brought a Classic River‐Dominated Delta Under Human Control

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract Damming of wild rivers has trapped vast quantities of sediment that would otherwise nourish deltas, causing severe sediment deficits and accelerating delta erosion worldwide. The Yellow River Delta (YRD), once prograding seaward at ∼10 km2/yr, began retreating at −5.6 km2/yr following completion of the Xiaolangdi Reservoir.
