The oxidation of niobium and the structure of niobium oxides

Soviet Physics Journal, 1966
Results are given for the oxidation kinetics of niobium in air at 500–1000 °C, together with x-ray data on the oxides; α-Nb2O5 (orthorhombic) is formed up to 850 °C, and above this β-Nb2O5, also orthorhombic but with lattice constants nearly twice as large. The physics of the oxidation is discussed.

The oxidation of niobium-titanium and niobium-molybdenum alloys

Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1960
Abstract The oxidation rates of several niobium-titanium and niobium-molybdenum alloys have been measured over a considerable range of temperature and the results may be understood in terms of the chemical and physical properties of the scales.

Tellurium‐Niobium Oxides

Zeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, 1980
AbstractThe solid‐state reaction between TeO2 and Nb2O5 was studied by means of X‐ray powder diffraction, at room temperature, using samples prepared in the interval of 500°C to 850°C. Several whitish coloured stable mixed oxide phases have been found, corresponding to the formulas TeO2 · 3Nb2O5, 3TeO2 · Nb2O5 and 4TeO2 · Nb2O5.

Versatile resistive switching in niobium oxide

2016 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2016
Resistive switching devices have a high potential for nonvolatile memories and circuit applications. This paper gives a review of the different switching modes in niobium oxide. Abrupt memory switching, threshold switching with or without memory switching and analog switching can be obtained by controlling the stoichiometry of the layer stack either ...

Studies on Niobium Oxides and Polymorphism of Niobium Pentoxide

Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1969
The oxidation of pure niobium powder in air has been investigated. It is observed that after the initial dissolution of a small percentage of oxygen in the niobium lattice, oxidation commences with the formation of lower-oxides of niobium. The existence of a sub-oxide ascribed as NbOx is detected below 350°C having a structure closely resembling that ...

Synthesis of Niobium Carbide from Niobium Oxide Aerogels

Chemistry of Materials, 1995
Niobium carbide (NbC) synthesis was studied by the temperature-programmed reaction (TPR) between niobium oxide precursors of different textural properties and a 20% (v/v) CH{sub 4}-H{sub 2} mixture. Surface areas ranging between 13 and 74 m{sup 2}/g were obtained depending on the temperature and on the nature of the precursor (Nb{sub 2}O{sub 5} or an ...

Delayed Ionization of Photoexcited Niobium and Niobium Oxide Clusters

Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1992
AbstractThe delayed emission of electrons from hot refractory metal clusters can be regarded as the molecular equivalent of “thermionic emission”, which is well‐known for metal surfaces. Niobium clusters – generated via pulsed laser vaporization technique – were exposed to a 10 ns laser pulse, and the delayed emission of electrons from the clusters was
