Rapid NIR determination of alkyl esters in virgin olive oil
The regulation of The European Union for olive oil and olive pomace established the limit of 35 mg·kg-1 for fatty acids ethyl ester contents in extra virgin olive oils, from grinding seasons after 2016.

Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has been used to analyse a suite of synthesised jarosites of formula Mn(Fe3+)6(SO4)4(OH)12 where M is K, Na, Ag, Pb, NH4+ and H3O+. Whilst the spectra of the jarosites show a common pattern, differences in the spectra are observed which enable the minerals to be distinguished.

Preprocessing NIR Spectra for Aquaphotomics
Even though NIR spectroscopy is based on the Beer–Lambert law, which clearly relates the concentration of the absorbing elements with the absorbance, the measured spectra are subject to spurious signals, such as additive and multiplicative effects. The use of NIR spectra, therefore, requires a preprocessing step.

OCT-NIRS Imaging for Detection of Coronary Plaque Structure and Vulnerability
A combination optical coherence tomography and near-infrared spectroscopy (OCT-NIRS) coronary imaging system is being developed to improve the care of coronary patients. While stenting has improved, complications continue to occur at the stented site and

Clinical Brain Monitoring with Time Domain NIRS: A Review and Future Perspectives
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is an optical technique that can measure brain tissue oxygenation and haemodynamics in real-time and at the patient bedside allowing medical doctors to access important physiological information.

STUDY OF DIFFUSIVE MEDIA WITH LOW SCATTERING HETEROGENEITIES
Biological tissues have the particularity of allowing light between 600 and 900 nm, within a range called optical window, to penetrate them a few centimeters. This characteristic arouses interest in the near infrared light for its use as a diagnosis tool,

Estimation of mineral content in forages by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy
In 100 dried samples of forages, harvested three or four times during 1997 and 1999 in different morphological stages the macro- (Ca, P, Mg, K and Na) and trace- (Zn, Mn and Se) mineral contents were determined by chemical methods and by near infrared ...
