Can ISO/IEC 17025 serve as a tool to prevent scientific fraud in chemical research laboratories?

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Scientific fraud has been documented across multiple disciplines, and chemistry is no exception. Recent studies indicate that contamination of materials, methodological errors, and unreliable data, results, or analyses account for over 25% of retracted publications.

A close-up view of coarse limestone from New Bern, North Carolina, set in the NIST stone wall

open access: yes, 2017
The NIST stone wall was built using 2,352 stones from 47 US states and 320 from 16 foreign countries. The wall is approximately 12 m long, 4 m high, 0.6 m thick at the bottom, and 0.3 m at the top. The aim of the wall construction was to study the aging

Extended batch adsorber analogue model (e‐BAAM) for rapid evaluation of CO2 capture pressure swing adsorption cycles

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This work presents a simplified extended‐batch adsorber analogue model (e‐BAAM) to quantify key performance metrics such as purity, recovery, and energy trends for various pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process cycles for CO2$$ {\mathrm{CO}}_2 $$ capture.

Microwave‐assisted catalytic pyrolysis of textile wastes: Synergistic effects and product characteristics

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the microwave‐assisted catalytic pyrolysis (MACP) of individual and blended textiles (cotton, polyester, nylon 6) using ZnO and a ZnO/natural zeolite catalyst. In a custom‐built microwave reactor operated at 500°C, 1 kW power, and a 15‐min residence time, textile wastes were pyrolyzed.

Charge State Influence on Stability and Isomerism in Dehydrogenated PAHs: Insights from Anthracene, Acridine, and Phenazine

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The ionization of anthracene, acridine, and phenazine has been explored, along with the removal of one and two hydrogen atoms, to provide valuable information for astrochemists and to understand the behavior of the resulting structures and their electronic reorganization. Abstract In this study, we systematically explored the stability and isomerism of

Strain and Band Modulation of WO3/SnSe Micro‐Nano Composites Achieving Superior Photocatalytic Performance

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
WO3/SnSe micro‐nano composites demonstrate exceptional photocatalytic performance through synergistic strain and band modulation. Lattice strain modulation enhances methyl orange adsorption and visible light absorption, while Z‐scheme band alignment promotes efficient charge separation. The 2.5% WO3/SnSe composite achieves 99.71% degradation efficiency,
